This policy explains how the Android app Chess Coach: Openings (the “App”) handles personal data. Our puzzle trainer, Chess Coach: Puzzles, has its own policy at https://driftsparklabs.github.io/driftspark-legal/chess-puzzles-privacy.html.
Driftspark Labs, an independent developer based in Belgium, is the data controller. Contact: driftspark.labs.app@gmail.com.
Nothing. We run no servers, the App has no accounts and no analytics, and we receive no data about you.
Your settings and progress are stored only on your device, where we cannot access them. If Android backup is switched on, your phone may include them in your own Google backup. Uninstalling the App deletes them from the device; if backup is on, a later reinstall may restore them from your own backup.
The openings ship inside the App, so training sends nothing over the network. Reminders are local notifications scheduled by your device.
The App shows ads through Google AdMob, operated by Google. To serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may process your advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and app information, and your interactions with ads. Google acts under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. Its list of ad technology partners is at https://support.google.com/admob/answer/9012903.
Legal basis. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland the App asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). If you decline, non-personalized ads are shown on the basis of legitimate interest in funding the App and preventing fraud (Art. 6(1)(f)). You can change or withdraw your consent at any time under Settings → About → Privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.
If you buy unlimited kings, the App stops requesting ads altogether.
Purchases are processed by Google Play. We never receive your payment details; Google only tells the App which items your account owns.
Google may process ad data in the United States and other countries. Google relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses for these transfers.
We hold no data, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete. Google retains ad data according to its own policy.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Because the only processing is done by Google, requests about ad data are best sent to Google through the link above; we will help if you contact us. You may also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority: https://www.dataprotectionauthority.be.
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with an updated date.
