This policy explains how the Android app Arrowwords (the “App”) handles personal data. Our chess apps have their own policies.
Driftspark Labs, an independent developer based in Belgium, is the data controller. Contact: driftspark.labs.app@gmail.com.
Nothing. We run no servers, the App has no accounts and no analytics, and we receive no data about you.
Your settings, puzzle progress, hints and statistics are stored only on your device, where we cannot access them. If Android backup is switched on, your phone may include them in your own Google backup. Uninstalling the App deletes them.
The puzzles ship inside the App, so solving them sends nothing over the network.
When you install the App from a friend’s challenge link, Google Play passes the challenge in that link (the puzzle id and your friend’s time and stars) to the App on its first start (Play Install Referrer). The App reads it on your device only, to open that puzzle.
The App shows ads through Google AdMob, operated by Google: on the menu screens, on the results screen after a solved puzzle, and inside the popups for hints and for starting a puzzle over. Apart from the optional video ads you can choose to watch for extra hints, the App shows no full-screen ads. To serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may process your advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and app information, and your interactions with ads. Google acts under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. Its list of ad technology partners is at https://support.google.com/admob/answer/9012903.
Legal basis. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland the App asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). If you decline, non-personalized ads are shown on the basis of legitimate interest in funding the App and preventing fraud (Art. 6(1)(f)). You can change or withdraw your consent at any time under Settings → Privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.
If you buy Unlimited, the App stops requesting ads altogether.
Purchases are processed by Google Play. We never receive your payment details; Google only tells the App which items your account owns.
Google may process ad data in the United States and other countries. Google relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses for these transfers.
We hold no data, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete. Google retains ad data according to its own policy.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Because the only processing is done by Google, requests about ad data are best sent to Google through the link above; we will help if you contact us. You may also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority: https://www.dataprotectionauthority.be.
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with an updated date.
